The silver fir tree (Abies alba) is a typical plant of mountain forest areas of Central and South Asia. A majestic tree, slender and long-lived and can reach up to 50 meters in height. If grown isolated, the trunk's base is characterized by dense branches, otherwise bare for a large part of its height. It is an evergreen tree and lives at altitudes between 500 and 2,000 meters asl. It prefers wetlands, fresh and deep soils and is typical of shaded and rainy areas.
