Plumeria rubra is a shrub belonging to the Apocynaceae family and originator of the Caribbean and Venezuela. It requires sunny exposure and is sheltered by cold winds and winter humidity. During the vegetative period, from May to September, Plumeria rubra needs abundant watering, leaving the soil to dry slightly between one watering and the other. In winter the plant goes into vegetative rest so watering must be considerably reduced. Thanks to the rich summer bloom, Plumeria rubra is very much used as an ornamental plant.
