The wild linden (Tilia cordata) is native to Europe and western Asia. A long life tree of a considerable siz (up to 250 years). It has a deep root system and can reach 35 meters in height. It grows on hills and forests in calcareous and dry soils. It is used as an ornamental plant mainly along avenues. Its wood is used for inlay work, carving and parts of various musical instruments.
